My name is C. M. Upchurch; I currently live Olympia, WA.
My preferred genre is science fiction with a blend of urban fantasy. Along with the Leander Sequences, I am currently working on novellas in the same universe. And possibly a few stand alone novels.
I want my characters - my Recruit Leander - to inspire strength and courage in the reader. Yes, flying in spaceships and killing aliens is far-fetched, but the premise of exploring who you are and reaching your potential is achievable.

By the way, I wrote these for my blog, but not everyone can be successful so I copy/pasted for here. I feel like I might feel more accepted here than off in web-land.
I have several projects that are waiting to be written, specifically, the fourth novel titled the Apostate for the Leander Sequence, the eight other novellas that are companion parables, and also two stand alone novels.
I have so many ideas and its almost crazy to take on this many projects, but if I don't put them down on paper then I might never remember them. Of course, I do not plan to write all of them on a deadline, these are just projects I hope to accomplish over time.

The question of violence

I wrote Frigid Bliss and realized the beginning content might be too violent. I know that some may just think, "Well, who the fuck cares." But these days, artists of all genres are pretty much attacked for their creativity saying it's causing all the shootings and other terrible events. Sometimes it is that case, but we can't blame all art, video games, and music. I remember listening to Marilyn Manson as a preteen and then Columbine hit, saying it was his fault. Yes I listen to violent music, yes I watch violent movies & TV, and yes I play violent video games, but no that does not make me want to hurt myself or others. I'm a pacifist, I'
